Fitness - more than a weight issue!

People need to change the mindset that "working out" and exercise is only for the overweight. Exercise is for everybody who has a heart and wants to keep it healthy, for everyone who has bones and wants to keep them strong (especially menopausal women), for everyone who wants to control their cholesterol, sugar levels, blood pressure, increase cardiovascular capacity, etc. Fitness is for you and for us.

Gone are the days of moderate activity for 20 minutes, three times a week. Canada's new food guide recommends one hour of moderate exercise five days a week. We don't need to ask why the change; all we have to do is look around us. Obesity is on the rise, cholesterol levels are up and type 2 diabetes is everywhere. We can change these statistics with healthy eating and exercise that includes cardio and strength training.

All of the information out there can be a bit overwhelming and that's where a personal trainer can help make sense of it all and set you up with a fitness program designed just for your needs. A program consists of a one-hour consultation and three training sessions on the floor. Each program is designed to run six weeks, at the end of which you will be re-measured and weighed to track your progress and then we design you a new six-week program.

Why every six weeks? Well, to see results, you realistically need that long and usually at the six week point, many people become bored. Also, your muscles are no longer being challenged so to continue to see results, a program change every six weeks produces maximum results.
